INMASTERMIND

The smartphone industry is overcrowded, with every fresh release competing to become the next must-have gadget. Through the years, a certain uniformity has crept in with near-identical aesthetics, specifications, and software experiences. Maybe the only real differentiator now is the value users actually gain from them. I have been testing smartphones for quite some time, across different colours, dimensions, and form factors, but ultimately I have come to appreciate the overall user experience. And frankly, only a handful of phones have managed to feel genuinely complete.

Earlier this month, Vivo launched the newest addition to its X300 lineup, the Vivo X300 FE. More than just another handset, and undeniably stylish, the X300 FE confidently positions itself among premium devices fighting for your attention. It brings an eye-catching design, impressive cameras, and a fluid software experience. I have been alternating between my primary device (an iPhone 16 Pro) and the Vivo X300 FE over the last few weeks, and in this review I will discuss what impressed me the most.

Out of the box
The Vivo X300 FE arrives in three shades – Lilac Purple, Urban Olive, and Noir Black. Visually, the Urban Olive radiates the calm freshness of young bamboo stalks, while the Lilac Purple resembles delicate frost settling on a windowpane at dawn. For this review, I received the Noir Black variant, which feels refined and soft in hand. The styling follows a language similar to the recently introduced iPhone Air and Pixel 10. Like those devices, the rear houses a raised horizontal camera island stretching across the upper section of the panel. The camera hump blends neatly into the glass back, creating a sleek and polished finish.

To me, the biggest highlight is the compact build. Anyone who prefers effortless one-handed usage would likely agree. The device sports a 6.3-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate; more on that shortly. It measures roughly 7.99 mm in thickness and weighs 191 grams, making it feel remarkably lightweight.

The ergonomics are thoughtfully executed, and long gaming sessions or binge-watching marathons will not tire your hands. Besides, for someone who dislikes oversized 7-inch slabs bulging out of pockets, the Vivo X300 FE slips away almost unnoticed. The slim chassis and understated styling clearly work in its favour.

Superior sharp visuals
Displays have unmistakably become one of the biggest selling points for smartphones in 2026, and the Vivo X300 FE delivers impressively. I tend to be critical and usually avoid exaggeration, but the AMOLED panel on the X300 FE is genuinely excellent. If you enjoy cinema and gaming, you would understand the importance of a good screen, and honestly, this device performs brilliantly. Despite its compact frame, the phone produces vibrant and detailed visuals. It reaches 5000 nits of peak brightness, and I encountered no visibility issues even beneath the harsh Delhi sunlight.

I watched several recent shows, including Big Mistake, Beef, and The Pitt on the Vivo X300 FE, and the experience remained consistently enjoyable. Beyond the comfortable viewing experience, the portability of the phone allowed me to hold it for extended periods while lazily leaning against the winding passageways of the Delhi Metro. Whether for music videos, films, or intense gaming sessions, the X300 FE maintains strong performance and produces excellent visuals.

Performance
What is the point of a device if it cannot keep up with modern multitasking needs? I constantly receive calls, check emails, edit documents, juggle multiple apps, hop onto video calls, and sometimes patiently track food deliveries while simultaneously streaming my favourite sitcoms. Smartphones have adapted to these demands, and the Vivo X300 FE, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, handles them effortlessly.

Thanks to the octa-core processor, apps run smoothly side by side without interrupting daily workflows. The review unit I tested included 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. Additionally, the phone supports an extra 12GB of expandable RAM. This could prove particularly useful for users engaged in heavy gaming or simultaneously running multiple AI chatbot applications.

With the octa-core processor, multitasking feels seamless, with applications operating fluidly without slowing routine activities. The unit I used featured 12GB RAM paired with 512GB internal storage. On top of that, the device supports an additional 12GB virtual RAM expansion. This can be especially beneficial for users who enjoy resource-heavy gaming or frequently rely on multiple AI assistants.
As for software, the Vivo X300 FE ships with Android 16-based OriginOS 6. The interface preserves fluidity and refinement, helped by ultra-smooth 120Hz animations. It feels polished, responsive, and modern while consistently delivering a stable experience throughout usage.

Cameras
Honestly, I am not a particularly skilled photographer. The Vivo X300 FE arrived bundled with the vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2. Photography enthusiasts would likely appreciate the accessory, as it captures distant scenes and motion with striking clarity. The X300 FE includes an integrated Teleconverter option within the camera software; once attached, the phone automatically recognises it, and it can be enabled with a single tap. The Extender Gen 2 becomes especially useful for travellers wanting to preserve the essence of a destination. Whether ruins or scenic grasslands, the extender records them beautifully.

Regarding the camera hardware, the handset features a premium ZEISS-backed triple-camera setup consisting of a 50MP main sensor (Sony IMX921 with OIS), a 50MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom (Sony IMX882 with OIS), and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. On the front, there is a 50MP selfie shooter. Most of my photography took place in daylight, where the results appeared outstanding. Night and low-light imaging, usually a weak point for many smartphones, turned out reasonably impressive on the Vivo X300 FE.

Battery
The Vivo X300 FE packs a 6500mAh battery and supports 90W FlashCharge when used with the original charger and cable. Unlike the X200 FE, the X300 FE also introduces 40W wireless charging alongside 90W wired charging. I did not encounter any serious battery drain issues; even with prolonged use, the device comfortably lasted beyond a full day. Some of my most battery-intensive habits include endlessly scrolling through Instagram Reels and X, streaming films, and occasionally playing light games. Considering the compact dimensions, fitting such a large battery inside feels like an engineering accomplishment. Overall, the battery performance is dependable and rarely leaves you stranded.

Verdict
The Vivo X300 FE starts at Rs 79,999. I fully understand there are several strong rivals available, but this device is genuinely excellent. The compact design, outstanding camera capabilities, gorgeous display, and reliable battery life combine to make the X300 FE feel like exceptional value.

The handset comes with five years of Android OS updates and seven years of security support. It ships with Android 16-based OriginOS 6, and Vivo claims software support will continue until 2033, giving the device long-term reliability and security. If you are someone looking to move away from oversized phones toward something compact yet feature-packed, then the Vivo X300 FE is a compelling option.
